Fender Esquire MIM - Yeehaa test

A friend of mine just bought the Esquire MIM a very neat guitar all the way, but for some reason he instantly changed his mind, and decided to get rid of it. So Here I am checking this little Esquire before she goes away.

This is the kind of guitar for going back to the basics I guess. I always find with a strat I use position 2, bridge/mid and then 4 mid/neck for darker lows. With a Tele it's always on bridge for me but I bought a Cabronita and I love the neck as it's jazz warm and gorgeous. I use effects but recently I am just going direct to Fender tube amp and since I don't use a pick the sound is from my fingers. Getting back to the basics is a great way to pick up an electric and blow all day ideally with a small good sounding portable amp that you can take any where! If you really like playing then the Esquire gives you little choice because of the single pickup but that's when you can be most inventive. When I had hardly any pedals and shitty Amos I made some great sounding recordings. These days I've lots of gear and every now and then I do a check so that my guitar isn't sounding to freeze dried and generic! I love the idea of the Esquire and may pull the trigger on one down the line but for now I'm really enjoying the Cab as it's got vol, no tone and just two buckets! Awesome!

I have one of these. I took the original pickup out and then I put it back in. The original pickup is awesome. I also scalloped the neck

'Bridge position' is the bridge only, no tone available.
'Middle position' is the bridge with tone, so for example you can set the tone at 5 and pass from bridge (full bright) to a bassier tone in the middle position.
'neck position' is the bridge with tone at 0, a full bassy sound.

Great, I have one of that and love the guitar, I use it with a Little 59' pickup for stoner rock, and sounds very good. Cheers

What kind of amp did you use? Any special amp-setting? Did you use any pedals?
