I'm a shelter volunteer. Please don't overlook the older cats at the shelter! Alot of them are owner surrender and are stressed. They don't understand why they no longer have a home. If your shelter allows you to interact with the cats, see if you can take an older and a kitten.

We adopted a kitten 2- years ago to keep our elderly cat company and it was the best decision. It brought my old guy back to life and they are the best of friends.

I've been saying this for decades. It also helps keep them from being lonely when you're gone all day to work. Cats are very social creatures especially with one another and they need that comfort to feel more secure in their environment. ❤😊

My two cats came from the same litter, and while it was abit of a chore.. I do not regret having them. Specially now. Theyre the two reasons I have to krump this cancer and walk out of here with my head held high. Love my babies more than life itself.

I adopted two. That was the best choice I have made. All the reasons you said and more. I have a blind kitten and he gets reassurance Fri. His sighted brother.

Also helpful if you have an older cat already. Two kittens can entertain each other and leave the older one alone instead of being all over them and annoying them in their twilight years. Older cats are often not ok with endless kitten energy, and they deserve some peace and quiet when they want it.

We did that based on your amazing advice! It was a few weeks apart but brought so much PEACE to our home and reduced the stress on our other 3 cats. Thank

I adopted 3 little ladies. They were the last 3 remaining at their foster home. They were not litter mates, but were bonded for life. I couldn’t leave one behind. They are now 2 years old and make the sweetest cuddle puddle. 😻

I’m an owner of two! Initially one big boy I rescued from a shelter that bonded with me. Then in December I rescued a stray ginger kitten from a car during a rainstorm that refused to leave my side after retrieving him.

My baby ginger boy bonded with my big boy immediately. They remind me of siblings with how much they play and look after one another. Big boy was always super chill, little ginger has brought out the energy and spunk that big boy didn’t realize he still had without another cat around! There’s some things that can’t take the place of another cat’s companionship.

I got 2 brothers from the same litter and it was the best thing I ever did! They're now over 3 years old and are the best behaved cats I've ever had and never overwhelmed my 15 year old cat with their kitten antics.

Such great advice and God knows there are so many kittens in need of adoption right now!

Absolutely true! I’ve been doing that the last few times now! The last one I got three from one litter plus two from another! One of the litters was born on our patio and the other was found a few weeks later in bushes near our home. Don’t forget to keep them inside and train them to “get back” from the door when it’s open! My cats occasionally get out and then I yell “Inside, inside pointing at the door! “ ….believe me they know I get stressed when they are out as we have a hawk, coyotes that pick off cats in the fall when it’s dry and the rabbits are less available. (It’s very suburban with some horses intermingled you wouldn’t think it to be coyote country, but it IS! ) Train them now and you won’t regret it! Also no flees and parasites (worms come with flees !).

I adopted a momma and daughter a few months ago. My husband and I specifically went out looking for a bonded pair because we have a very quiet house with us working during the week. They love playing and cuddling with each other and it's so cute to see their individual personalities develop, but also to see them interact with each other. Momma was less than a year old when she had her litter. We aren't sure what happened to the rest of the litter, but she is about a year and a half old so she is still a kitten herself and has a lot of growing to do!

Thank you for recommending the adoption of 2 kittens. About a year ago, we adopted male and female kittens within about 6 weeks. The male was so sweet to the female as he welcomed her with a pat on the head and neck. They are so bonded, loving to each other, and loving to all of us. When we have to leave home for a while, they entertain and look after each other so well. The male was a stray and is very smart and talkative to let us know when sissy gets into trouble or when they want or need something. They still play together quite a lot.

💯 agree! Many years ago, I adopted one kitten.. cutie! Within a few months, my poor feet, ankles, calves... couldn't take anymore! He was constantly ambushing me and attackining them and he was ROUGH...too aggressive ! I didn't know what to do. At that time, I didn't have much experience or knowledge about being a Cat Mom, but decided to adopt a bit older, not so aggressive Playmate/Companion Kitty for him. I went to my local Shelter and explained what kind of kitty I was looking for....and they led me straight to a sweet and gentle, pure white giant! I said I needed "laid back" personality, .. they said, "He's a big lug! It worked! The kitten learned how to play not SO aggressively, and my Big Lug experienced his second childhood! He had been depressed at the Sheter, and became so happy! Both became FRIENDS and BROTHERS! After that time (early 70s, Ive ALWAYS had 2 or MORE Cats as my Family!

My boys came from the same littler. i was only wanting one originally. My son, did research and told me it's better if we get two so they can keep each other company and they are able to work off each others energy. I was hesitant at first, but now I love them so much. I don't regret it for a second.

I've always had more than 1 cat at a time, but this last time was the first time I'd ever gotten two kittens at once, and it makes a huge difference! My cats just seem more well adjusted, not just with each other, but all around.

yes and yes! 14 years ago, we brought home siblings George and Pawpaw, and though us kids were 9-13, the cats came up quite nicely. pawpaw is a lovely lady, and though george rests now, he was the happiest and most friendly boy
