All-Wheel Drive Mode Switch (AWD) (if so equipped)

Your vehicle may be equipped with an All-Wheel Drive Mode switch, located on the lower left side of the instrument panel. Your All-Wheel Drive System gives you the option of selecting among three drive modes, based on road conditions. This All-Wheel Drive Mode switch allows you to choose from the following drive modes: 2-Wheel Drive (2WD), AWD-V and AWD. Push the bottom of the switch to select AWD mode, or the top of the switch to change to 2WD mode. Push the switch to the center, neutral, position to engage the AWD-V mode. When the AWD or the AWD-V modes are chosen an indicator light will illuminate to show which drive mode is selected, but no indicator will illuminate when the 2WD mode is engaged.

The 2-Wheel Drive mode is for normal driving conditions, typically for dry, paved roads. All-Wheel Drive mode is preferable for driving on rough, muddy or sandy roads, while AWD-V mode helps provide better traction for driving on slippery, paved roads.

Please note these shifting essentials: You can operate the All-Wheel Drive Mode switch while driving straight. Do not however, attempt to adjust the All-Wheel Drive Mode switch when making turns, backing up, or when front wheels are spinning. If the AWD Mode switch is operated while the vehicle is accelerating, decelerating or making a turn, or if the ignition is turned OFF when the vehicle is in AWD or AWD-V modes, you may feel a jolt. This does not indicate a malfunction.

This is the All-Wheel Drive Warning light. If the AWD System malfunctions, the warning light will either blink or remain ON after you turn the ignition ON. Refer to the Owner's Manual or see your NISSAN dealer as soon as possible for assistance in this situation. Also, if the warning light blinks rapidly, do not continue to drive as it may damage the power train.
