Dispatched to Karosseriebau GmBH in Reutlingen, Germany for further work per original ordering entity.

The Rolls Royce Phantom VI entered production in 1968 with the last examples completed in 1990. However since production took upwards of 18 months, the last actually delivered took place in 1991.

From 1968 to 1990 a total of 374 examples were built. However from 1980 to 1990 production slowed dramatically and just 33 examples were completed.

Almost all built in both left and right hand drive configuration were completed as Mulliner Limousines with a handful of Landauets models.

In 1986, just two examples were ordered and completed. Chassis number SCAPT0002GWH10153 was finished in right-hand-drive and our subject vehicle, chassis number SCAPM0004GWX10391 was the sole example finished with left-drive configuration.

The car was originally ordered for the Saudi Royal and upon completion dispatched to the famed Wendler Karosseriebau GmBH in Reutlingen, Germany where it was completely disassembled and reassembled with full armor protection including all panels undercarriage and glass. This armored protection used ballistic steel and bullet-resistant glass offering protection against various threats, small arms fire and explosive devises. The original front windscreen was fully armor protected and nearly 2.5-inches thick but distortion made it very difficult to drive.

Upon completion, it appear the Saudi Royal family never took delivery. The car was then purchased by a private collector in Japan and the original Japanese registration records confirm that the car was registered new there in September of 1987.

At some point, a thinner windscreen was substituted in place of the massive armor protected one and since the actual owner likely was not going to be doing any of the driving, perhaps they were not quite so concerned what might happen to the chauffeur. The side and rear bullet-proof glass was retained and is still fitted to the car. The car also received a complete repaint at some point while in Japan where the original Dark Blue was changed to all Black.

After arrival in the states, this vehicle was dispatched for complete inspections and safety checks. New tires were fitted and all services were brought current including a full rebuild of the hydraulic system.

Both AC systems were overhauled and serviced and updated but additional repairs are still being completed to them. To date, we have just shy of $15,000 in repairs and services and these records have been posted to the photo gallery.

Regarding Wendler Karosseriebau, this is the same famous coachwork company in Germany that was opened by Erhard Wendler in 1840. Initially, they manufactured carriages, and from the early 1920s, they also produced car bodies. The designer Helmut Schwandner initiated the reorientation and in the 1920s, around 60 bodies were built, and in the 1930s, this number rose to 250 to 270 individual examples. The workforce consisted of approximately 100 employees.

After the Second World War, Wendler resumed the production of car bodies, now using modern manufacturing technology and materials. Series production continued until the end of the 1950s, when the focus shifted primarily to repairs.

One of Wendler's most famous and important clients was the Porsche factory, who, among other things, commissioned 90 to 100 light-alloy bodies for their 550 and 550A racers. For the 1961 24 Hours of Le Mans, Wendler designed a Porsche coupé, which was never built. Instead, he developed his own Porsche-based car, the W-RS 001.

From the 1970s on, the company focused on classic car restorations and custom armored limousine builds. In 2000, Wendler became insolvent but the company continued to operate under the name Pgam AG until its final closure.

Please let me know if I can assist further in anyway.
