2023 Illinois 4-H State Robotics Challenge: Hydrobot

Our Oceans are a thriving, everchanging example of Mother Nature’s awesome power. Within these oceans live an estimated 1 million species of life, and 352 quintillion gallons of water! With the threat of global warming, and a changing environment, scientist from every discipline are tasked with the important job of protecting our oceans and aquatic habitats to ensure the survival and longevity of the life they hold. It will be your generation of minds that will be charged with saving our oceans, and making the planet a cleaner, healthier place. Your companion of choice for this mission is an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV), or Hydrobot.

This year’s competition will revolve around the work of conservationists and oceanographers. You and your team will be tasked with building a HydroBot to accomplish the tasks laid out before you in this document.
The Hydrobot Challenge will take place at the McLean County Fairgrounds in Bloomington, IL on Saturday, May 13, 2023. Team registration will open January 16, 2023 and will close April 14, 2023. There will be a $20 Entry fee per team assessed at the time of registration. All Health Forms are due at time of registration and will be accessible through the Challenge Download Link.
