This may help a little bit for people that are trying to find out how much resin they will need for a mold. What I do is the first time I use a mold I fill it up with water, then I pour the water into a measuring cup and see exactly how much it takes to fill up that mold. This will tell you how much resin you will need. I hope it helps someone.

I was really surprised the gold fell through enough to show up on the other side. I’ve watched most videos to this point and it hadn’t happened yet! ❤️❤️❤️

Hi Julie. Marina Sharpe has been experementing with different types of resins and different types of mould products. It was very informative watching her videos I learned a lot. She is well worth your time.

they look elegant and I hope to see more black and gold coasters from you.I've been using metalic powders in my polyester and glass painting projects for a while and I know that you can also paint the edges of your resin coasters with it.you can blend gold metal powder with a bit of acrylic medium or varnish to create a paste-like liquid which we call liquid gold and use a brush to paint the edges of the coasters with this liquid gold

Julie for what you’re wanting to do you can buy a can of gold spray paint in gloss, like rustoleum brand or similar. Spray some onto the side of a small Dixie cup until there’s a small puddle in the bottom and then add resin to it. Then do like you did for these coasters! It will cell & lace.. it’s the magic 👌

Yes! Black & Gold! I did my first resin coasters in black & gold for a special friend/customer. I posted them and she immediately texted me she wanted them. I think these came out beautiful! Thank you always for your awesome tutorials! 😍🐇💗💕

I love these and I agree they do look oriental. I am enjoying going along on this journey of experementing with you. Keep going and don't stop chatting it's part of the experience and I dont mind how long the video is. I am a high risk so I am confined to my home and watching you guys doing resin and painting distracts from my reality. So thank you

I think they turned out very pretty. I know it's difficult though when it doesn't look like you wanted. I love the black and gold combination. Can't wait to see what else you do with that combination. Thanks.

They're lovely, love the gold on the top they look a bit oriental.. Just a thought, I've started layering mine. I use half the amount of resin it takes to fill the mould, do my design etc with the colours then leave overnight.. Next day I repour and add my gold, glitter, glass or whatever and it tends to sit more on top of the resin.. Takes longer but I get a result closer to what is in my head 😂.. I'm a newbie to this so just a thought x

I had several thoughts while watching this. I wonder what it would look like if you dripped the gold in. I wonder if you would get a 3D effect if you used the same swiping technique on transparent resin. I wonder what would happen if you swirled the gold into the black before you poured. And I wonder if you could do a resin flip cup pour in a tray mold. I know you wouldn’t get cells, but you might still get some interesting effects.

They’re very pretty. Thanks for sharing your experiment!

That gold looks like my favourite pigment from colour obsession called 007! But in a much larger container, can’t wait to order some!
