@10:38 - On the Model 70 it is a "DBA [Direct Bus Attachment] ESDI" HDD - all the controller circuitry is on the drive itself. DBA ESDI is actually a truncated microchannel slot, missing the unneeded signals.

I have two identical Model 70s but one had a Model 50 case and I couldn't figure out why. I guess its case was swapped at one point. They're both identically spec'd with the same board and add in cards too. They were from some business that donated them to Goodwill. Another journey I've been on is finding an MCA sound card. I haven't found much luck in a few years of looking, unfortunately.

Thanks for posting this. Model 50 was the first PC compatible we had at home. Wish I'd kept it.

I also didn't realize that the 16-bit slot on the Model 70 is for the video card. I have an XGA2 card in one of mine and have to look if it's in the right slot! This is excellent information.

@5:15 - The "DBA ESDI" drives weren't made in a 5-1/4" form-factor.

My 8570-161 has a 160MB HD. You did a nice job on this video. Glad to affirm the smaller planar came after the larger one.
