Why are they slamming the fish into the pier deck? Just curious always thought people put their catch on ice to keep it fresh for later

FYI.. Poor Teresa lost the fish.. But at 7:31 in the video... It looks like she bumped the line above the reel and below the first guide on the pylon she was trying to lift over. It looks like it broke right there while scrapping the pylon.... At 7:34 - 7:35 you can see in slow motion the end of the line frayed and broken about 6-8" above the reel.
