Shemitah - The Year of Release

The next year of Shemitah begins in 2022 at the start of the Biblical New Year which is in March/April on the Gregorian calendar. At the end of each seven-year period there was to be a Cancellation of Debt, called in the Hebrew tongue "Sh'mittah" meaning "release". The debt release and the land resting is the focus of this Teaching.

Since discovering, studying, and applying Torah in our lives, many of us have received fresh new insight and greater understanding of Biblical passages. For instance, each week we set aside the Sabbath Day in keeping with the Commandment of the Most High to keep the Sabbath Day Holy. We have learned that not only are we to keep the Sabbath Day Holy, but there is also a Sabbath Year where the land rests and debt is released. This message is about that year, Shemitah: The Year of Release.

We will review Scriptures that remind us that the land is not ours. We don't determine what happens on the land. The land comes with instructions. Secondly, the things that the Almighty put in our possession are not ours to possess, as much as they are ours to be a steward of.
