The shows premise revolves around the challenges that arise when three generations of the same family are suddenly living in the same house.
When Jessica's husband dies, his father - Gus - invites her, and her three children, to move to California, and into his house - until she gets back on her feet financially.
Arthur, the basset hound also comes along, although Gus is initially unaware, and he has an allergy to dogs.

I found this a really great show, and the dynamic between everyone is really true to a real life situation.
Wilford Brimley as Gus is really wonderful - at first finding it hard to adjust to young people around him.
Deidre Hall is fantastic as Jessica, and Shannen Doherty plays the 15 year old daughter spot on.
