Auditorium Maximum

Budowa tego gmachu była najważniejszą inwestycją uczelni w dwudziestoleciu międzywojennym. Wybudowany w latach 30. XX w. wg projektu Franciszka Eychhorna. W czasie wojny, po zajęciu terenu UW przez hitlerowców, hall budynku zamieniono na stajnię, a inne jego pomieszczenia na magazyn broni.

Po doszczętnym zniszczeniu podczas wojny, w latach 1951-1955 wzniesiono nowy budynek wg projektu Wojciecha Onitscha, Mariana Sulikowskiego i Andrzeja Uniejewskiego. Było to zwieńczenie odbudowy zespołu budynków przy Krakowskim Przedmieściu.

[ENG] The construction of this building was the most important investment of the university in the interwar period. It was built in the 1930s according to the design of Franciszek Eychhorn. During the war, after the Nazis occupied the UW area, the building's hall was converted into a stable, and other rooms into a weapons warehouse.

After being completely destroyed during the war, a new building was erected in the years 1951-1955 according to the design of Wojciech Onitch, Marian Sulikowski and Andrzej Uniejewski. This was the culmination of the reconstruction of the building complex at Krakowskie Przedmieście.

The building houses the Adam Mickiewicz Aula, which is the largest lecture hall in the UW resources - this is where, among other things, the inauguration of the academic year takes place. It also houses several smaller lecture halls, as well as the UW Economic and Logistics Office, the UW Research Services Office and a post office.
