Let's Celebrate Our Age! This is 49!!

Who else grew up watching Golden Girls?? 🙋🏼‍♀️

This look reminded me of Blanche Devereaux. Remember her?? She was 51 when she started the show. At the time, I believed that this is how I’ll look when I’m 50. I didn’t really believe you had options as you got older.

Fast forward several decades...and I think women in their 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, 70’s… understand that we can look beautiful and vibrant at any age! We don’t have to conform to societal expectations. We don’t have fade into the background. We CAN be seen!

AND…there are NO rules! You want to have long hair—have long hair. You want to go gray— go gray and OWN it! You want to wear bold colors—wear them. You want to get in the best shape of your life— do it! Literally anything and everything is possible... and perhaps even more probable... with the increased wisdom and confidence that comes with age.

Let’s start by celebrating our age and naming one thing that has improved as we have gotten older.

I’ll start...

I am 49-years old and I feel SO much more FREE and CONFIDENT now! I often express that freedom with fashion, like this blazer with sexy cutouts.

It’s mind boggling when you look back at the way they placed women in boxes back in the day; wearing “sensible” hair styles, clothing and with an act your age mentality. Act your age….what a strange ideological construct. I’m so glad that you keep fighting the fight against ageism! Although, is 49 old? I’m 57 and work very hard on staying happy, productive, healthy and looking hot! This so nothing we should ever feel badly or selfish about. You go gorgeous!!

My 75 year old mom doesn't look as old as the GG did back in the day. But, I grew up watching Donna Mills on Knots Landing, who is about my mother's age and she was gorgeous then and gorgeous now. As are you. xoxo
