If you like this video, share it on Reddit! I have another Q and A video coming up! Ask me questions in the comments below!
*Things that were cut for time:*
_On Writing:_
Writing and actual, like, visible words are often used in Wes Anderson’s films. From letters to newspapers to the actual title to many, many books, literature is abundant in his films.

This adds a variety of things to the movie, depending on how text is used. The Royal Tenenbaums, Moonrise Kingdom, and The Grand Budapest Hotel, all of which feature books either in their title sequence or as an instrumental part to a character, and have actual narrators, heck The Grand Budapest Hotel has three. This all emphasizes the importance of story, it’s made known to the viewer narrative and plot are powerful tools that Wes plans on employing and perfecting.

_On Wes liking Truffaut:_
Heck, Wes even appeared in a documentary about Truffaut, which is great, by the way, you should check it out.

I dig how he puts stuff in the center. Watch Isle of Dogs trailer and notice how many scenes have stuff in the center of the screen. You don't might not notice it until someone points it out... then you can't stop noticing it.

Do you love dogs as much as you say it in this video?
(Isle of dogs. Sounds like 'I love dogs'... you get it.)

We share your Wes Anderson love! Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums made us feel like he was telling our stories. We're so lucky to get to see his films.

This is the kind of high level film nerdary that goes to my head like cheap vodka.

If you want a good laugh, take a look at the jankety little Moviemaker presentation on the auteur theory that I made instead of a PowerPoint for my French Cinema class. It's under my videos. Prepare to be underwhelmed. 😁

One other frequent collaborator to Anderson's films is Mark Mothersbaugh, the lead singer of Devo. He did the music on Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, and The Life Aquatic.

(I may or may not have been a bit saddened when I didn't even get a chance to correct you on the pronunciation of "Mothersbaugh")

When other Alex talked about stop-motion animation it reminded me of that bit in Singin’ In the Rain where the scientist explains sound films.

The Royal Tenenbaums is one of my favourite movies, as are many other Wes Anderson films. My Pug is called Wes - is that wrong?
