So, you have your return track with all the effects applied to it, and at the end, you place 'Soothe.' In Ableton, apply sidechain to Soothe by clicking the arrow button, just as you would for regular sidechaining. Set the original (thing you are making a verb for) signal as the sidechain input source. Within Soothe's interface, ensure that sidechain is enabled (activate the power button in the sidechain section on the left). Gradually increase the dial, and you'll notice it beginning to work. You then want to assist the process by directing Soothe to boost the frequencies where clashes are detected (move the UI point up to enhance soothing, not down!).

For a similar effect, I personally find 'Track Spacer' useful. It acts more like a tool for removing conflicting frequencies, as opposed to Soothe, which I see as more of a tool for addressing resonant frequencies. Of course, you can also opt for the classic sidechain compression approach at the end. This method attenuates the reverb when the OG signal plays, preventing interference. However, this might not be ideal if there's limited frequency overlap between the OG sound/instrument and the reverb. Additionally, you might dislike the 'pumping' effect, which depends on the compression's release time.

In summary, you have three options: utilize Soothe's sidechain for precision, lightly employ Track Spacer as a frequency carver, or if there's extensive frequency overlap and the former options didn't suffice, use a compressor at the end of the reverb to duck it.

(Bonus: On another note, you can use Kickstart 2 to sidechain the bass; simply place it on the bass track and sidechain it to the kick. This differs from instances where you might want the kick to cut through a sustained synth, and is better than a compressor because ableton's compressor will listen to the entire sampler drum before release so it lags, and trackspacer will not lag the release.)

If your goal is to retain the lushness of both the synth and the bass, and you're confident their frequencies don't clash significantly, using a compressor on the synth might result in undesirable pumping. In such cases, the sidechain EQ technique I described earlier will likely yield better outcomes.

Soothe actually doesn't do anything similar to compression but rather using narrow Bell philters. But the technique is perfectly fine. If you don't want to use soothe, you can perfectly recreate this effect with trackspacer.

With what would you sidechain soothe if you have multiple tracks going into the reverb send? A bus channel where all those tracks go to first? Or do you have a separate reverb send for each track that needs reverb?
