"Wanna know why I don't clean my own house? I work from home. So, I outsource my cleaning to a maid service. And I can't leave while the maid cleans because I have nowhere to go. I work here too. If you are the maid, please don't give me attitude because I don't clean my own house.

If you are a homeowner and too busy to clean your own house, hiring a house cleaner or housekeeper is an awesome idea. But you need to set boundaries and expectations. A 60-second greeting will prevent a house cleaner who talks too much from consuming your time.

Yes.. start at the Initial walk through. I'm so thankful for your videos. I learned quickly to great and then pretreat. I kept my conversations til the end if needed. I worked a season in Florida and it was really helpful to share with clients, if I find mold would you like me to point it out while I'm in my service to you, this way we can stay on top of these areas. They would say yes.. then I would exam if they were not taking care of it inbetween and I would have to alert them to a extra charge to take care of it thouraly in my regular cleaning. I used that also when I came upon extras that were not in my 2 hr schedule, it was amazing how if you do not call it out right when you see it, that you can be easily taken advantage of. I did alot of homes that were housed by seasonal clients..they would be very routine and then needed to have 2 extra rooms and baths done along with an extra harder vacuum, dust, and mopping.. due to having guest. It is so good to announce that your price is for what we have in our initial service, but I'll be glad to give you your request to clean from your guest but the price is 30.00 to 40.00 extra with 1.5 hr allotted at our next clean.Please let me know ahead of time if you are going to be needing this. They usually always know a week if not a mth in advance that guest are coming.. thank you again for your wisdom and skills to advance my business. Happy cleaning!

Feel like you missed this one Angela. She didn't complain of chattiness. She said she FELT judged. With every single house keeper, which makes me think she's got some neurotic guilt going on for having a house keeper. I'm going to rewatch in case I am wrong and missed something.

Great video! I find it amazing that any cleaner would give an attitude to a homeowner. My thought is "So ... You don't want the job?" But I know it happens all too frequently. I pick up clients because other cleaners have a chip on their shoulder, aren't cordial, or are otherwise socially inept. Anyway, good advice to homeowners and hopefully a wake up call to some folks who think the job is just cleaning.
