Very clear audio and video quality for a vintage 1950s kinescope!

Thank you for Love of Life from 1952, and featuring a young Peggy McCay, who later did Days of Our Lives and General Hospital (where I first remembered her). Also, I saw her do episodes of Perry Mason and the movie, Ladd: A Dog, with Peter Breck (The Big Valley). Wonderfully convincing actress who was beautiful inside and out. May she rest in peace.

Thanks so much. I think this is the earliest episode of Love of Life I've ever seen. Another absolute rarity. Great work from Jean McBride here. (she also has a somewhat "wilder" or "fallen woman" style here than she had later on). I think she has a slip (she says "you'd never pay attention to a married man" instead of "married woman"). She carries through smoothly enough.

This was a really good episode - I may have bought it from you on VHS in the 90s. If there was one soap I would love to have the entire run of, it's Love of Life because it very much evolved over the years - from the good sister/bad sister melodrama, to Van's career in TV in New York, to expanding the story to include Bruce, his children and the rest of Rosehill, to tackling social issues and adding young characters in the late 60s/early 70s, to the reintroduction of Meg.

Peggy MacCay is so young here she's unrecognizable

I never knew the late Peggy McCay (who played "Caroline Brady" on NBC's DAYS OF OUR LIVES) was ever on another soap opera. I also never realized how vast her career was. I mean this is from 1952!! :) :)

Love of Life was the first soap opera that came on daily.

They need to reintroduce a whole line of soap operas with 15 minute durations/shorts because peoples attention span are so short now.

The show started at 15 minutes, and went to 30 . Later cut to 25 and back to 30 in its final years.

Do you know how hard it was for them to come up with a marketing plan for their new laxative?

Charlie Harper is a real jerk. Meg is too good for him!

I wonder if that Wizard stuff sprayed a lot of people in the face.

I thought that divorce had been a taboo subject for early-50s TV.
