What happens when Title 42 ends | US Immigration

Brought in by Donald Trump, and continued by Joe Biden, the regulation meant that because of the coronavirus pandemic, the US could quickly expel migrants who had crossed illegally into the States.

Title 42 has been used more than 2.8 million times to expel migrants since its implementation. People sent back under Title 42 faced no further consequences, so some have tried to enter repeatedly.

But as the White House declared the pandemic over, that also spelled the end of using Title 42 to deal with immigration.

Now, asylum-seekers have a much better chance of staying in America. They will be interviewed by immigration officers, and those who are found to have a “credible fear” of being persecuted in their home countries can stay in the US until a final determination is made.

1:55 - I wonder if the media asked those men to walk like their hands have been cuffed behind their backs?

It’ll be interesting. The buildings designed to hold them during the asylum process will not be large enough to handle the surge. Can’t wait for those same stations that covered the terrible conditions at the border show up again and record how amazing it is now that a different administration is in charge. I’m sure there won’t be any problems.
