Personally prefer the old mythological style of smite rather than this more cartoony look (I dont dislike the new ascetic I just prefer the old).

They really need to bring back the dark vibe to the map that they had. You have all these gods killing each other, and it's on this vibrant playground instead a grim warzone.

i played smite since the alpha on and off due to school and college exams and competitiveness here in india, and this video brought back so many memories.. showed it to my friends who had stopped playing from season 3 and they now want to come back to smite.. pretty happy that i will have more friends to queue casuals with .. thanks man

The first map will always be my favorite, 2nd in 2nd and 3rd in 3rd. They have the best atmosphere in that order. I hate the new cartoony oriental look the game took on.

I started playing late season 1, a little before Serqet was released. Man, I forgot how much the map changed. I do remember the big controversy of Chaos side having an advantage in season 2 when the buffs were symmetrical, but the rock placement made the order side much easier to invade. Fun times.

I love how dark the jungle was in the beta. I’d love if they remade a map like this with dark scary tones

So they rework 3 of my most favourite maps... (joust, conquest and assault) and make then look like shit? The new maps are not thaat baad... but it doesnt feel like Smite anymore

The season 1 map was my favorite and first (when Scylla was released) simpler and funner times imo. The season 2 design looked nice too. I hate how the map looks now.

Great video very nostalgic. The speed buff removal as well as them replacing the attack speed buff with the void buff were probably my least favorite changes I had completely forgotten about the early elementals dropping mini speed buff that was something!

I would absolutely love for Alpha/closed beta to come back as far as the map goes. The whole aesthetic makes everything really immersive. Nowadays it looks like I'm seeing a cartoon forest with happy animals and singing birds. It's a shame I was never around at that time... Would have loved to have played conquest then.

There was some games in early closed beta where you had a dedicated jungler who ran around like a rainbow light show with every single buff, problem was, we didn't have any jungle starting item at the time, so the pool of gods(which was under 30 gods in total all the way until Anhur got released) who could solo jungle camps were very limited. Only about Bakasura(who wasn't in for the start of closed beta) and Arachne could be a dedicated jungler at the time. Kali to a lesser extent, but required a lot of pots to be able to stay out on the map.


There was multiple factors to why this was the case, but the small jungle pick pool was the most obvious one(also people being mostly bad at the time, compare to the skillbase of the playerbase nowadays). Others were, even with buff stacking, every god had insanely high mana cost abilities, so you couldn't use them to effectively farm the jungle. And due to no jungle starting item, you had to have some sort of cheap self healing(Bakasura, Kali needed mana pots and the blue buff since her self heal was rather expensive) or something to tank the jungle buffs for you(Arachne, her spiders worked differently before her rework and she could "solo" rush gf at min 0 with the old Odin that had an aoe attack speed buff instead of his shield at the time)

You should try to do a video doing a over view of the major metas of Smite if possible.

Also I started playing late S4. I made my account in late S3 though but didn’t actively play until August or July.

I feel like the kraken woulda been better of a team boss then the fire giant. But then again i guess Poseidon ult being it didnt work

Season 1 is still my favourite. The design was far more subdued, it mostly just felt like you were in a forest and there was a pleasing sense of visual uniformity across the whole map. Plus the lack of fog made the jungle feel so much nicer in my opinion. Everything in modern SMITE is too big and garish for me, but at the same time oddly claustrophobic feeling.
