RC Circuit Hard HW Problem - 4 resistors 2 capacitors

preview_player
Показать описание
Looks at currents and voltages in an RC circuit just after the switch is closed and after the switch has been closed a long time. Shows how to use the golden rules about how a capacitor acts like a wire when the switch is first closed and how it acts like it is removed from the circuit (acting like an open circuit in fact) after the switch is closed a long time and the capacitor(s) has been fully charged. Also shows how to calculate the voltage on the capacitors after the switch has been closed a long time. In it you will see that one capacitor is charged and the other is not.

Beautiful explanation
You could also find the voltage difference between the plates of 1st capacitor by creating a Kirchoff loop including 6ohm, 2ohm, and the 1st
capacitor. Setting the eq.
Vc-6*1-2*0=0
Therefore, Vc = 6V
On the other hand, thank you for this nice video, sir!

Thanks so much for your explanation!  I liked your analogy about capacitors acting like wires until they are fully charged.  Helped me out quite a bit.

Sir, this solution is really really great. The concept of Shortcuiting the capacitor initially is new to ke. Thanx.

Frank,
If I remember correctly, you were fairly tall, slender dude from Lewis, was it?  So why did you come across this video?

without the LOAD,
how much current in amps can a 4700uf hold store with a power supply DC voltage at +450vdc? the 4700uf filter cap will charge up to +450vdc but how much current is the 4700uf holding storing?
What formula can I use to calculate how much current the filter cap is storing in amps?

how to find

𝜏(time constant) if the RC circuit have more than one capacitor and of course 3-4 resistors

Carbocation.

Sir your solution for Current at t=0 is not appropriate. It should be 16/7 A in 2 ohm resistance. Plz reconsider. Regrets if I m wrong

i thought capacitors behaved like open circuits in a dc source

Is there a way to calculate the time constante of such a circuit ?
A simple circuit would be Tau = R*C .... but when you have multiple R and C components how do you calculate it ?

Hey 6 ohm resistor just got short circuit, how can you find the current in it

I think you're wrong sir!! b/c capacitors behave open circuit to dc source not short circuit.
