For some sort of reason I expected 1-Wire protocol driven switch. Voltage follower is a pretty clever idea!

Nicely done! It's certainly an alternative to my solution. I will store this in a filing cabinet in my brain for some time in the future. If it ever comes up in a future video of mine I'll pretend it was all my idea, obviously 🤣

I would have to test your assertion that blue LEDs would light up with just 2.5v but even if they did not it's not a huge loss as I hate those overbright blue LEDs that seem to pop-up everywhere now.

Very nice to see you building on Ralph's ideas. I do like the idea of using the op-amp, since they are cheap and almost any will do. In addition, the current through the voltage divider will be very low (about 0.125 mA)
