Kuwaiti blogger: Botox more important than Filipino domestic workers' rights

Sondos Alqattan, a Kuwaiti beauty influencer, recently shocked the world after she complained about Filipino workers getting a day off and not surrendering their passports. Despite all the pushback, Sondos posted a snapchat story explaining her thoughts and feelings, which don't seem to have changed much.

She needs to remember decades ago her family was as poor as the filipino maids. Without their oil and gas Kuwait government would be a poor country.

I understand her dilemma and can empathise. She doesn't want her maid to take a day off as she struggles to function like a normal human being without domestic help. Poor thing, my heart breaks. How can she eat if nobody cooks for her? How can she use the rest room if nobody cleans her a$$ for her?

There is a reason that Indonesia, also a Muslem country, has made it ilegal for its citizens to work in middleeastern/Arab countries. Its sadly not just in the Gulf but also happens to workers in Lebanon.

This is the truth of most rich gulf arabs. I've witnessed their mentality when working at an airport and how they treat their maids. They think they're masters and feel they have a right to treat anyone "below" them as slaves. Just because they've been brought up with a rich comfortable upbringing, they don't realise the hard work and struggles people from poorer backgrounds have faced. No humanity. This is modern day slavery and their mentality needs to change.

LOL, I literally just heard her name when I started working at MAC corporate in NYC. Didn't she know one of high executive at MAC is a Filipino American... To top on that Patrick Starr, who is also Filipino is also one of the creative director of MAC including her endless collaboration and collection in the company. My form of justice, put her in place of a domestic worker, let her experience the life of a domestic worker before she makes judgment about something she has no idea about it, if she can work as a domestic worker for a year by the same rules as she wants to implement on domestic workers, only then she can vote for it .
