We shouldnt be saying we are saving the planet because the planet will be fine. We should be saying we are saving the human race.

'Saving the planet' is an incorrect way of saying 'Saving humanity' because the planet isn't going away, we humans are. So saying we are 'Saving humanity' will have more of a profound impact in the selfish minds of humans to do something about climate change.

I remember my chemistry teacher told us just this year that climate change “won’t affect our oceans” and he used a glass of ice water as an example, saying that as the ice melts the water doesn’t gain volume, completely ignoring the fact that ice is also on land...I’m being taught by a moron

I'm a geologist and an environmental scientist; and the rocks do show that the climate is constantly changing. Conducting investigations I read ancient texts and again there's evidence of climate change throughout history. However, when you look at the data from the past 50 years, there's a deviation from the normal progression, other than projected natural causes, and there's also an increase in CO2 into the atmosphere. Some of this can come from nature; but the human factor has also contributed to this increase. Remember how CFCs impacted the ozone layer. And remember how lead in gasoline impacted the environment. And let's not forget DDT.
