Good that you were able to see the video! I had heard so much about it that I had to see it for myself....Media exceeded my expectations. It has a lot of history, interesting architecture and is a very happening place with live music, restaurant scene, shops and theatre. It offers a lot especially considering its size. Next time, I'll have to try a hoagie....

The Rockefeller Estate is in the small town of Pocantico Hills. (This is very close to Tarrytown, and the Tappan Zee Bridge. You need a precise map to pick up the former town; Tarrytown will of course show.) Tours of the Mansion, which is actually not all to large, as Mansions go, are offered. Three main floors, with a subsidiary fourth. A formal, but small, East front face, with the house elongated in an odd East-West manner. The western side has a 1st floor portico facing the Hudson River

Media is a wonderful town and fun to explore. I made the video as I was seeing the downtown for the first time.

John I saw Kykuit when it first opened. I didn't have a camera with me at the time but it made a lasting impression. Although the name is Dutch I wouldn't think the architecture is.

Thanks Wanda. Is not the Minshall house neat? I love the old Dutch Colonial architecture!

I meant... that it was an elaboration on Dutch architectural themes and motifs. You know... that the Dutch weaved stonework in with Classical orders...? This was sort of their genius, if you would. And an odd combination, but if worked upon, it could be successful...

Btw. I have never been inside of Kykuit, but have toured the grounds.
You know River Road, rt 32, in eastern Penn., of course. Kykuit is to me like a house on that road, amplified.

Yes, thank you. Actually, never have been there. Have enjoyed Gettysburg, of course... (...) Many people do not know how nice Bethlehem is, btw. Wanda, a few years ago that town was voted as the 2nd least Romantic city in America! Commenced a reaction of sorts. Now Bethlehem has 'Dating Nights' (or weekends), in the summer... Dutch colonial Architecture is underrated. Did you know that Kykuit, the Rockefeller Mansion, in Westchester County, NY is designed in Dutch Colonial? Check it out
