I hope it's a lot like BG3 the play style would be perfect for critical role and exandria

Scale back all expectations. They might know people in the industry and have access to great voice actors but lets relax on what we hope for. Its more likely a telltale style game focused on storytelling vs BG3.

A critical role 8-bit rpg would be amazing

On one hand Larian would be epic - but I find it unlikely. While there is contact between CR and Larian, Larian has enough to do by itself and is too big to team up with for the first project. Now, they are VAs so Id assume they have contacts with many Dev studios, but I assume a smaller, potentially more self contained first game, just because this is a lower investment and while its likely fans will like it, its not guaranteed as its a new thing. I would think a visual novel might make sense. If they want it more bardy (depending which campaign is closest connected) maybe Summerfall? A Stray Gods-ish game could be very cool.

Dude Larian would be doing charity work if they a made a game for critical role. They could make their own cr game and it be just as good there is no universe where they would do that unless it was small project for fans. I dont think you understand how video game development works, this is mostly to the fans. Expect CR to be working with a company who is not great at world building or story telling but good at making games. For exampl3, owlcat, or Obsidian. Even those devs might be too big for a company like CR however considering Obsidian can’t make good games anymore atleast their current roster of employees are just not the creme of the crop, CR deal might be a major comeback potential for them to clear their name and make good games again. As for a company like Owlcat they are just super solid for making incredibly in depth table top games as crpgs. They just lack in the story telling dept. CR would be a dream for them.

I would put my money on Obsidian more than Larian. The relationship with Obsidian is much longer and deeper. They literally have characters from Critical Role in the Obsidian games, as well as voice acting in all their games and Matt using the music of Pillars of Eternity on the show.

I think the most likley game dev would be Amazon (sadly enough) seeing as they already have an animated show there and it has gained massive popularity with more shows coming. Altough Larian would be nice.

I would prefer if it was just an action RPG to be honest. I don't really want a BG3-type game because we already have BG3 and it is just fine.

this might be asking for too much, but i hope we get some sort of anthology game that lets us play through all the campaigns like an old tie in game, as well as an actual new narrative with custom characters and changeable outcomes and brand new stories

i highly doubt that there will be a larian game. a scale of bg3 is extremly expensive. and cr is not hasbro/wizard of the coast. they needed a kickstarter for the cartoon show, it is unreasonable that they will do anything huge with just their income.
a text adventure c64 style would be fun tho. thats reasonable

No please not obsidian. Rather it be owlcat or larian.
