Overanalyzing SMG4 - It's Gotta Be Perfect

The recent SMG4 Movie It's Gotta Be Perfect was just revealed. Let's talk about it.

The recent events on SMG4 have been leading up to a new movie. We have very little information on what it is going to be about but I can at the very least overanalyze SMG4's previous uploads and how It's Gotta Be Perfect is the best representation for many during the longest livestream the channel has introduced. I am excited for this new movie.

SMG4 AKA SuperMarioGlitchy4 is an animated series based on Super Mario 64 bloopers AKA SM64 Machinima and Garry's Mod AKA GMOD. It has had a variety of arcs such as the Waluigi arc the Rapper Bob arc the Anime arc the YouTube arc the Genesis arc the Revelations arc and the Lawsuit arc with War of the Fat Italians 2022. SMG4 is also known for Mario Does Things such as Mario Reacts to Nintendo Memes or Mario Plays like or videos like SMG4: Mario Goes to Ohio or SMG4: MAR10 Day. SMG4 in 2023 will probably have a new arc as well and I wonder what it will be also this is not an SMG4 Reaction or me Reacting to It's Gotta Be Perfect and I am not discussing the Redesigns.

This really speaks so much of how the SMG4 fanbase is so divided, it made Luke working so hard to the point of subtly lashing out on his haters without even doing one!

I’ve seen a lot of people drawing connections between SMG4 and Niles with their obsession with perfection. The similarities are there and while I don’t think SMG4 is being controlled I do believe he will go down a similar path to Niles. Becoming so obsessed and doing anything he can to reach his thought of ‘perfection’ he becomes a former shell of what he was. This can end up being figuratively or literally considering what we’ve seen with Niles.

Honestly my theory is that SMG4 was like overworking himself and going crazy over the perfect video and then went off on everyone during Mario Day and then due to his exhaustion and stress and mental breakdown the (very likely) entity was able to take control of him.

1:54 exactly! that’s what i was thinking! people keep talking about “oooh maybe its zero controlling smg4” or something but i feel like it would be a much deeper and more relatable arc if it was just smg4 and his own mental health. not every conflict needs a main villain.

Like I have stated on other theory videos SMG4 is starting to act like Niles, the true villain of the Cosmology Saga (Genesis and Revelations arcs), Niles just wanted to make everything perfect for him and his friends but only made things worse, he accidently killed SMG0's avatar: Fred, turned SMG0 into an Eldritch God, destroyed SMG1 and SMG2's home (These two were oblivious to Niles existence and thought this was all SMG0's doing), turned Axol into a monster and tried to destroy Mario's world, possessed and manipulated Melony and tried to kill Mario and the others. SMG4 is starting to alienate himself from the others because he has been consumed by a similar desire, if this "Perfect Video" goes wrong, there will be chaos.

Oof when you lay it out like that... It's relatable. A while ago, I made 3 big videos that concluded a lot of the ongoing developments of my characters in my SM64 Bloopers.

The first one performed pretty well considering my number of subscribers, but the other two... not so much.

These were my biggest videos ever, especially the last one, and the community, as small as it is, keeps asking for SM64 Bloopers, and when I gave these two them, they stopped caring pretty quickly it seems.

Fun Fact: SMG4 has acted in a similar way during the Stupid Mario Stupid Show he busts out of his room after supposedly working in there during an entire Mario game where he decidss to run the show in a similar attitude as the movie

This actually does seem true because there has been something I’ve noticed from last year. In early 2022, smg4 videos especially the Mario does things, we’re getting over 1 million views in less than 24 hours. But later in the year, (wotfi 2022, and the Mario does things being exceptions) the main Saturday episodes have been getting less views recently being at least less than 800, 000 views in 24 hours.

So I can really understand why he needs this video to be perfect.

Ye, that’s a GREAT theory, so it can be one or two things:
1. SMG4 is growing obsessed (and slowly insane) to make this ‘perfect video’ that he just wants to focus on that, and not anything else.
2. Maybe there IS another dark entity driving SMG4 slowly insane, and maybe that ‘perfect video’ might play a part in bringing that entity to their physical world, and it might be either 0 or something else far more powerful.

1:53 there was an outside source, a lurking evil corrupting SMG4 causing him to act that way. but it was was lead-up to by an over-obsession that caused him to lock himself in his room, away from others that don't understand him and causes him to get angry at everyone.

Interesting theory since Luke mentioned this year will be different starting with this movie in which SMG4's "perfect" video will be revealed and this does relate to some other online video makers

I sometimes feel like Luke/SMG4's mental health might have some minor change into the series as a whole but I still think the OC's corrupted by Niles/SMG0 or maybe he's out of his own mind to make the video

Honestly I'm already in a mentality that NOTHING can be perfect but the most important is that you enjoy what you're doing, also as a YouTuber myself i don't care if my videos does great or not as long that I'm doing what i love well i don't care about what people think
