My Bees are preparing to swarm. Beekeeper takes action

I was converting the solide bottom board to a screen bottom board and discovered me honeybees are preparing to swarm. Action must be taken.

I'm in the Blue Mountains outside Sydney Australia. We have a similar device but, it has a 1 inch deep tray that slides in under the screen. That is part filled with vegetable oil. The device catches a lot of hive beetle and black ants. I think they are a fantastic innovation. Thanks for the informative videos

I love your videos and your jokes!!!  I've learned so much over the last year watching you.  I've asked questions and you've always answered and I much appreciate it.  I have one request that I think many others could benefit from as well as me.  I would love to see a video with no bees.  I want one dedicated to the smoker.  Proper ignition, packing and use.  I feel like I'm always fighting the clock before my smoker dies and constantly having to worry about it staying at the ready.  You've always got great heavy smoke.  I need that knowledge.

I’m on my second year with Minnesota hygienic. I don’t treat for mites or beetles. I split with swarm cells.(no shortage) I constantly watch them kick crap out the front door. I’ve never seen more than a half a dozen beetles in a hive. There are either coming out the front door or they’re in the lid. These bees are Fuc$&#@ awesome.

I had three hives swarm on me last year. Your video showed me why - I was too darn late in spotting them queen cells. next spring it ain't gonna happen. I'll bee sure of that!

I like how you admit there is no definitive answer to many questions in beekeeping. I run into so many beekeepers especially older guys who think if you aren't doing it their way you are messing up. Example I recently was told I "Messed up" when I explained to some older beekeepers how I solved a laying worker problem. When I told them it worked they just said "Well you got lucky."

I am 60 yrs old when i was in my 30s i thought about Bee keeping but then i thought a keeper must get stung at least once or twice a day so i decided to get into Coin collecting Silver and Gold coins as a hobby and I was working Paramedic in the 80s and the only anaphylactic shock i ever seen was from a guy eating shrimp, so i missed out on the "Gold" Honey. You got some really good videos buddy and brave to be in shorts and a tank top, Id be in the house looking though the window!
