I had a fun time pronouncing these station names even if I struggled a bit with some! 😆 Hope to visit the UK sometime soon so I can actually go to some of these stations! -Christina 🇺🇸

"Piccadilly Circus station is chaos", well the tube station is named after a road junction outside which is so famous for being an extremely busy area of central London that it is actually used in the English language as a euphemism for busy e.g. "I had a BBQ at the weekend and my house was like Piccadilly Circus". And of course it was also famously used as a filming location in the film 'An American Werewolf in London' .

I was extremely proud of Christina in this video! How do you think she did? Any station names you guys think are interesting? Also now discovered that Vauxhall cars were founded in Vauxhall!

A few things to add/correct from what Lauren said:
- the Tube still mostly does not have AC as it would not be needed given the UK weather, yet new(er) trains/lines do have it or at least have a better ventilation system.
- The Tube haswifi since a few years, you need to check with your mobile phone provider for access (for some, it can be even already included in your bill/access).
- Picadilly Circus is still a mess, it is a joint but also a very touristy place as it is literally in the middle of the city, so... yeah, take your time when you get there.
- in the video, there is also a line that actuallt links the city and Heathrow airport that is the brand new Elizabeth Line. This has AC, is pretty spacious, very quick, so getting to the airport now should be easier.

Having been to London a few times, hearing Londoners say certain places definitely helps. For Tube specifically, watching videos from YouTube creators like Geoff Marshall & Jago Hazzard will help a long way in getting used to the Tube.

The line that goes to Heathrow is the Piccadilly Line (dark blue). Piccadilly Circus is always busy as it’s how we get to Regent Street and Leicester Square for more shops! Plus it goes to the Heathrow airport so a lot of people will have luggage, which is not fun.

Our underground system is not that confusing when you get used to it. Manoeuvring through some of our bigger stations on the other hand …. Especially the adjoining ones. Bank / Monument comes to mind….

I feel as though everyone in the Uk went “oh really?” When she said “picadily pub” and then the moment she said “French onion soup” everyone went “oh for fucks sake!”

I like how Christina struggled with these words while Lauren was just like "haha, my girl needs me to learn more" and by the way I also struggled with many of these words, either the sound, accent or words themselves

The London Underground <3 When I visited London back in 2008, I was exchanging trains from one line to another, walking though those Art Deco tunnels, when I started hearing Greensleeves being played. On a harp. Echoing in the tunnels, Finally, I found the musician - and old man, apparently a professor of music according to a sign, looking like a leprechaun. There was this cultural initiative to put classical instruments in Underground stations. But the whole situation felt like a fairy tale. Or possibly a television series / novel by Neil Gaiman.

Most of these were pretty easy. I would have included Ruislip, Lewisham, Greenwich, Woolwich. Also the tube does have wifi and they're trialling mobile signal on the eastern section of the Jubilee line.

Vauxhall the car brand is only Vauxhall in the UK (I believe nowhere else) its Opel in most of the rest of the world, Buick in North America and China, and Holden in Australia

Marylebone was called Great Central from 1907 to 1917. That was much easier, I think.

I think Holbone doesn't exist, it's Holborn 😂
And the ones I usually struggled with were Woolwich, Greenwich and Lewisham. I also had said Reading wrong with an embarrassing joke about wanting to take books to read there but it's pronounced as 'red-ing' 😅

Oh, Vauxhall... in Germany, we pronounce that "Opel" 😁

Correction:
It's Holborn, not Holbone.

I would love to have Lauren give me a tour of London, and all the interesting tube stops.

Euston is one of the major hubs but it depends where you're travelling to and from, I'm from North Wales so would always catch trains to/from Euston, but then I moved to Brighton where the main terminus was Victoria Station and if you live in the East Midlands or wanted to use Eurostar you'd use St Pancras as your main hub etc.

Other ones I had to learn to pronounce properly when I moved back to London as an adult: Southwark, Greenwich, Bow, and Ruislip.

When attempting British pronunciations, I'm always thinking how Ron Weasley would say it, so I end up starting everything with "bloody".
