In the remote woods of Hell Hollow, an experienced hunter and tracker named Middie Rivers vanished without a trace while leading a hunting party. He was never seen again.
Between 1945 and 1950, four other people disappeared in an area of Vermont known as The Bennington Triangle.
In 1946, Paula Welden, 18 years old, went hiking near Glastenbury Mountain and didn’t return. A massive search was launched, including hundreds of volunteers, law enforcement, and even a psychic. She was never found.
Three years later to the day in 1949, James Tedford, a 68-year-old veteran, vanished into thin air on a moving bus traveling to Bennington. When it arrived, only his suitcase and ticket remained.
In 1950, Paul Jepson, 8 years old, vanished while playing just outside his mother’s work. Bloodhounds lost his scent at a nearby highway. He was never found.
Sixteen days later, Frieda Langer, an experienced 53-year-old hiker, went missing while hiking on the Somerset Reservoir. Six months later, her body was discovered in an area that had already been extensively searched. The cause of her death could not be determined.
