This is simply political theater. Yes... it is solely his job, but it is also his responsibility to get legal opinions and if necessary defer to the courts when an outcome is not obvious and clear. By delaying this request, he certainly knows that he is NOT being played as a political pawn and shame on Wyden for suggesting such a thing.
Poor guy knows that he has a lot of responsibility here and cannot/should not simply comply with a request that may not be legitimate.
Lastly - and we all know this is true - Trumps business dealings are going to be complex to analyze, and the Democrats are absolutely on a fishing expedition to try to find anything that may be suitable to draw question and begin another smear campaign... like Russiagate all over.
