🚀 Learn to use KeePass or get a PREMIUM password manager with a hefty discount! 🚀

KeePass is an open-source password manager that’s also completely free. So naturally there comes a question if it can stand its ground when compared to paid premium password managers. To find that out I’ve got a facts-only KeePass review for you

------------------------------------------------------------
🔑 KeePass Ease of Use 🔑

The app user interface brings me back to the good ol’ days of the early 2000s. It looks nothing like today’s premium password managers. From that, you might think that KeePass is going to be hard to use. And you’re right. There are lots of functionalities you need to customize yourself.

After you install the app, you get no guidance that would introduce you to the program. You instantly receive tools to work with on your own, so the usability can get pretty complicated. There are no instructions in the app that would tell you what steps you should take. Nevertheless, those instructions can be found on the official website of the KeePass password manager.

This is an open-source software. Meaning that every tech-savvy person can customize it. So if you have time on your hands you can make it as functional as possible. But if you don’t or if you’re a beginner this is going to be way too overwhelming. So, besides installation, it’s a tough nut to crack.

------------------------------------------------------------
🔒Is KeePass secure?

You might be surprised to see a free password manager with ChaCha20 encryption. It also includes a very customizable password generator. One of the best things about this password manager is that it’s open for everyone to check, making it as transparent a service as it can get.

------------------------------------------------------------
🗂️ KeePass features and plug-ins

After you download the basic app, it won’t have many features. However, there are over 100 user-created plugins for KeePass. The community keeps adding new ones and upgrading the old ones all the time.

I have some key recommendations that you should use. The first one is the two-factor authentication plugin. Now for security and convenience browser import plugin is also a must-get. I would normally recommend auto-fill as well, but in this case, their auto-type add-on is not user-friendly and requires command use.

------------------------------------------------------------
Final thoughts ➡️

It’s the best free password manager, especially for advanced users. It has a spotless reputation and full transparency.

However, it is very hard to get used to and can take a lot of time to set up even for advanced users. So if you are tech-savvy and don’t mind the outdated UI, you might even find it fun figuring out what your options are with all the plug-ins.

I've been using this for around 10 years. Absolutely great program. Never needed to use anything else

@4:38 "I have no idea why it can't simply be a text file that I can save digitally."
My guess is that lazy or uninformed people will save the text file with a telling name (like "keepass" or "emergency sheet"). Then, when their computer gets compromised, the assailant will have that file.
