I loved that moment early in the campaign where Liam was about to be hit with a spell and said *Caleb voice* Counter Spell

Silvery barbs, from a dm, is not that bad. It may stop your rolls but when its a tense battle or important roll and the party has run out of alots or almost then you are mostly fine

Generally I don't really see the silvery barbs being all that bad to deal with granted most of the parties I run with as a GM at most 2 people could end up with it so it's best to keep them in mind when designing challenges, on the additional note most of my players keep educate in regards to its use often being only in clutch moments or when repelling crits, it doesn't always work for them in the end with rerolls but for those reasons we're pretty content with the spell being available, though if you don't want to outright remove the spell a big suggestion out there is make it a 3rd level to hinder its overuse if that tends to be an actual issue certain players overuse, and do talk about it with your table best to keep bad blood from occurring that could bleed into conversations on the campaign of things are not discussed outright

Silvery barbs is def way to strong but i dont fault the players for thst its to strong in any and all campaigns. They def got to either update the old spells or tweek the new ones. Having the newer school spells and older spells just makes you feel like why would i ever want 90% of these older spells outside of for character design or RP reasons. For pure i want to have the best spells i can with my limited amount youd almost have no reason to take older spells outside of the few utility spells
