I Spent 48 HOURS in CAIRNS, AUSTRALIA 🇦🇺 (Full Guide and Review)

WELCOME TO AUSTRALIA! A new video series starting in the rainy, tropical city of Cairns in the North of Queensland, Australia.
In this video I take you to Cairns for my first 48 hours in Australia. However, not everything went to plan! And I was an unfortunate travel victim of Cyclone Jasper and the constant rain and disruption that he brought with him.

Cairns is such a nice and cosy town full of nice restaurants, party hostels, bars, clubs and so many activities and trips that you can take in the day. Notably, Cairns is famous for it's easy access and tourism infrastructure for the Great Barrier Reef (which I did but in a separate video). There are also day trips you can and should take to the Daintree rainforest, the oldest rainforest in the World! And Kuranda with the skytrain that takes you to an aboriginal village to see how the aborginese used to live before the colonisation and formation of Australia.

However, the big debate that I had during my time in Cairns city was did I even need to come?!
In this video I answer that question and take you through the mistakes that I made coming to Cairns and things that I would do differently were I to return.
It is worth noting, that this was my first time in the amazing country of Australia and so all my experiences and naievities are raw and very real!

I was in Cairns twice recently (actually four times now since 1991) (Last visit was October and November 2023) once with my elderly mum, and came back again on my own... before the cyclone. I love 💕 your video on this. Very honest and great presentation. Cairns has mud flats which tropical countries can have . Sadly you came during the monsoons . Australia and the South Pacific have Cyclones .South East Asia has Typhoons and USA and the Caribbean have hurricanes . In Australia the monsoon period is between November and April . I went to Cairns during August and the weather was beautiful and sunny with temperatures between 25 to 30 degrees Celsius . Now with the experience you just had, you can become a world storm chaser and video them lol There are people who do that . Storm chasers find sunny weather boring . Storms excites them lol . I hope one day you can return between May and October and have better weather in Cairns I love your vlogs !

Don’t envy you staying in hostels. Eek. Never tried one and don’t want to but understand the hotels and Airbnb’s are price prohibitive for many and you’re right it’s definitely a place to visit when you’re young because if you like it you’ve then got the option of the two year working visa.

Mate this is Australia not the UK. We dont really care so much about being fashion conscious here like the UK is. We are laid back care free life style. To be fair the only thing expensive is flights. Living costs ard really a bit cheaperhere than the UK.
