Which Airport Does Each Major US Carrier Call Home?

Almost all airlines have a place they call home - the main hub, where they station crew and have their maintenance base. The United States is home to the world's largest single airline hub, but also to more nomadic low-cost point-to-point models of operation. Let's examine where the US's major carriers like to park their wings in today’s video…

Delta: "Atlanta is love, Atlanta is life."
At Delta, we feel that everybody should get to see Atlanta despite it not being their destination.

DFW is my home airport, and American is my favorite US Airline (two generations before me worked for AA!). I’ve passed through Atlanta, Denver, O’Hare, Midway, JFK, and many others!

Delta is my favourite. The staff seems genuinely happy to be there, and I am treated extremely well. They might cost a little more, but it is well worth it.
I've flown through Atlanta a few times. It may be the busiest airport in the world, but it is run very efficiently, with very few delays. Atlanta is very good st getting you where you need to go!

O'Hare (ORD) is a beautiful as it is massive. It was a task to transit clear across the airport in under an hour to make a connection. (Both flights were United.)

I've had the best experience with Alaska. While I do think SEA is a nice airport and is getting better as all of the construction projects wrap up, I'm a huge fan of PDX, given its wide selection of restaurants and amenities, cleanliness, and ease of transfer.

United's main hub at O'Hare was actually cutting-edge for a terminal built in the 1980s.

For a few years I traveled from ANC to BDL and back 5-6 times a year. I flew on United and always loved going through their concourse at O’Hare. I remember when Alaska moved their headquarters from Anchorage to Seattle.

I feel like southwest should classify Orlando mco as one of their main bases, they occupy 25% of the airport and is the largest carrier at mco in terms of amount of gates they occupy. They take up one big airside terminal vs the other airlines which only have partial areas within 1 airside Sharing it with other airlines. I think they do classify it as one of their focus cities though.

Alaska and Delta are my 2 favorites. The biggest reasons are the accommodations between Alaska and the Pacific Northwest. I like how Delta has intercontinental flights, but Alaska has a better mileage plan.

Miami should have got an honorable mention for AA.

I really think Alaska’s SEA hub is my favorite just because of the N concourse lounge.

Can’t forget LAS and DAL for SWA, and probably MCO too.

It's good to live near an airport that is a hub of one of the major airlines. This means that you can get direct flights to all the major and many of the smaller airports. That is my situation, living in Central New Jersey, Newark Liberty is where I fly in and out of and I fly United almost exclusively. The downside is that the United terminal is the most crowded at Newark and drop-offs, pick-ups and TSA are always busy or beyond busy and you have to make extra time for everything, especially for TSA, where the line and wait can be nightmarishly long and stressful when trying to make it to the gate in time.

I've been to about half of those airports. The best thing about the hub system is that the hub airports have more services to choose from. During my recent visit to Hartsfield, I noticed just about every fast food and restaurant chain was there.

ORD is by far the best connected airport in the world, offering over 350+ nonstop flights to anywhere, the most in the world

Thank goodness Hartsfield-Jackson Airport got the people mover train. I’d be exhausted walking from terminal to terminal rushing to get to my flight
