Hi, friends. This is Galileo Impact Stories and today we going to talk about the art of storytelling. Why it’s so important to know how to use impact stories in order to present yourself, your project or your social venture. To motivate people to follow your dreams and keep them engaged. My name is Sergei. Let’s start.
One of the most important skills you can learn in your life is the power of storytelling. The art of a good story is in the audience’s reaction followed by a call to action. And I want to help you to create such stories, so in this release, I'm bringing you my 5 best storytelling secrets.
The first words of your story like the first seconds of any movie can engage people or make them bored. You got to have something that will catch your audience’s attention. Oh, this is interesting, I want to hear further. You just can start: “it was one of my worst or best day in the whole life” or “I will never forget how we met each other” or “you will never believe, but it’s a true story”
You have to bring energy and enthusiasm in your story with your emotions, intonations, mimics, body gestures and eye contact. You have to show how your deep memories get to live through this story and your emotions. Share with them your experiences and feelings. Show how your excitement, don’t constrain yourself. Live the story while telling it.
Pay attention to details, to the context. Describe the weather, people, colors, sounds and smells surrounding you. Maybe it was windy, or kids were playing in the yard or black cat ran over the road. What for? It will help to transfer your audience to an emotional condition you need. Use vivid descriptions, details, and symbols.
Your story has to be leading up to something. You need to have action, dynamic, moving from the start intrigue to a final punch line. Step by step, event by event, you are leading your audience to great final, to some value at the end. Play with their attention, faster or slower a plot, but the story has to unfold from the beginning till the end.
You must have a concrete aim in your story. Do you want your audience to laugh, cry or tremble? Or do you intend to inspire people to take action? It could be anything but it should be clear to your audience why did you tell this story. What for? Don’t tell a story just to tell it. Great storytellers tell stories in order to receive a concrete reaction or action from the audience.
Well, these were 5 secrets of good storytelling. But there is one more instrument. If you want to engage thousands and millions of people into your story make a film. Add a movie in order to enlarge your impact.
