REVIEW: Frank Green Reusable Coffee Cup | A DEEP-DIVE Analysis

A detailed review of this popular eco product the Frank Green reusable coffee cup on everything from how it looks, the material, how easy it is to clean, whether it leaks to heat retention and more.

*Update 6 months into using this: The ditch on the inside of the cup's lid (5:50) is pretty annoying to clean! I honestly have been using this cup most often as a lidless tumbler at home - the stainless steel edge is nice to drink from, and it keeps my drink warm longer than a regular mug.

Good review. I'm impressed with the flow from the opening. I've used a few like the clean canteen and it's lid is a friction twist and I found the flow a bit meh. I've used a metal keep cup with plastic lid, it was good enough but not as a real travel option. The FG coffee won't spill during travel, but if you drop it in a bag and another object punches the button... otherwise it's the best solution for not spilling. Disassembling the lid is actually pretty easy, and I rate it better than the clean canteen. Also I like that the threading for the lid is on the outside; if you put the lid down it won't transfer contaminants to the interior when you put the lid back on. I've found drinking from most vessels has some issue with residue - tea or coffe can run down the side of cup, ditto the lip of any bottle, so not something I'd see as a concern.

I love them so much. I have the plastic one. It feels like it has a silicone outer layer which feels nice to hold. I like the feel more than the steel (which if you are buying they call it ceramic). I also drop my cup a lot ...A.. LOT... and the plastic/silicone one just keeps going. I’ve had it for a few years now. It’s wonderful. I had the plastic drink bottle and the plastic spilt after I dropped it one too many times, but still impressed. This Australian summer I’m going to try the steel/ceramic. 🥰🥰🥰🌿

Great review. I've been tossing up whether I would buy one. Now I shall.

Hi Gloria, I commend you on the quality of your review! Not so much the cup- I have a different brand that works great at a fraction of the price- but the quality of your review. Very well done and very enjoyable. Keep up the good work.

I was really sold on the mug but cleaning it seems tedious. I have a contigo mug that's called Glazed twistseal. The inside is ceramic and it's good if you're going to drink your coffee in the following 5 hours tops (i use it to take coffee from home to work, or just to drink it at home lmao).

The thing is, it's big. I was looking for a comparable item but smaller to get coffee takeaway without a single use cup. I guess I'm not going to get this cup because my contigo mug is MUCH EASIER to clean. You don't need to take anything apart.

Just got one of these as part of a coffee set and came here to see if anyone else was having the issue with a bit of coffee being left on the lid after each sip or if it was just me. In one way I'm glad to know it's not just me/I wasn't somehow drinking from it wrongly, but also it kinda sucks to see it appears to be a design flaw maybe. Shame as the rest of the cup is great. Guess I'll just have to drink with the lid off too XD (

Thanks for this comprehensive review. You’ve skewed my bias as I was always a Keepcup person 😂
Call me old skool but keepcup is just basic and deffo easy to clean 🧼 😂 toothbrushes are the best cleaning tools!

Also thanks for the last statement on the creating a sustainable business vs charity 👍

Honey & Roses has a mug like this and I was looking for a video on how to drink it with the lid on! Thank you so much!

I just received the Frank green ceramic lined mug for Christmas, and the ceramic coating has the most horrible smell. Is that normal, or did I get a wonky one? If it’s normal, does it eventually wash out?

Ive been wanting the white but wear tinted lip balm and lipstick some mornings, My questions is does this stain the white lid? if not does it clean off easily?

Hello! A pretty neat review! Can I know what software do you use to edit your videos?

I have just unboxed mine and it leaks from the small hole at the top. Am I doing something wrong ? Am I meant to disassemble as I thought it was ready to use.

Thank you, very informative. Will not be buying as the lid looks way to fussy to clean. Thanks for saving me some money as I was going to buy this before I saw your review.😊 I still love the brand as I have other items in their line. 👍

Is there something this size that doesn't have a drink-able lid? So basically a flask but shaped like a cup that;s good to drink out of.

Loosen the button from the bottom to make the button softer

You got it wrong on one aspect: it’s not dishwasher safe.
The lid is but the cup isn’t. Yea I know it sounds strange and stupid for such a product but you can confirm this on Frank Green website.
Only the « original » version (which is all plastic) is dishwasher safe.

Does it stay hot and for how long compared to a Yeti? Will it fit in a car cup holder.? Wil it fit under a K cup holder. Thank you.
