Equipped with Advanced Coma-Free (ACF) optics. A proprietary coma-free optical design delivers the ultimate in clarity, contrast, and with flatter fields of view.

All Meade ACF optics include over-sized primary mirrors.

The f/8 OTAs are available in 10", 12", 14" & 16" apertures. Includes dual-speed mechanical focuser, Losmandy-style mounting rail, and an internal Crayford-style focuser design for zero-image shift focusing. The 14" and 16" include a primary mirror lock to aid in long expsoure astrophotography. Wider fields of view and short exposure time when compared to f/10 optics.

The f/10 OTAs are available in 8", 10", 12", 14" & 16" apertures. Feature single speed mechanical focuser, Losmandy-style mounting rail, primary mirror lock, and higher focal length that yield increase magnification, ideal for planetary and deep-sky objects.

Question - how do Meade justify the $12, 000 USD doller prioce difference between the 14" LX600 and the 16" LX600? What I'm asking is, are there enough differences, aside from an extra 2" aperture, to justify that huge price difference? Thatnks for any information you can give me.

Wonder how these stack up against the Celestron line of SCTs? Better? Worse? Same? Will the Meade series accept Hyperstar? Doesn't seem to be much out there showing people using them, or comparing them to other makes. Would like to see one set up on an equatorial mount and shooting a DSO with the same equipment as a Celestron to compare.
