This is a stupid take. The soccer team is actually very good. They were conference Champs last year and had a couple a good out of conference wins. The kick wasn't an onside kick, but it also wasn't meant to be a downfield kick. The starting kicker is injured for the season, and the backup was injured a few days before the game. The team tried out a few people who did a little kicking in high school including her and one of the running backs. If you watch the actual game replay, you will see that every kicker that kicked that night kicked short or attempted to squib kick. All of the kickers only had a few days of practice before the game, and none of them have kicked in well over a year. She was also coming off an injury had only just recently started doing training and drills for soccer again. She actually kicked again in the game yesterday and had no issues. Both the kicker and punter have been out, so kick coverage has suffered. The coaches wanted them to attempt short kicks. She kicked in shorter than intended but giving the circumstances it's understandable. The team got the stop on defense and actually recovered two of the short kicks in the game

Kickers rarely have any contact. The likelihood of her tackling or getting tackled is extremely low. Most male kickers aren't particularly big or what you would deem the size of a football player, so some.of these comments are completely asinine

Wtf is going on? I was 1st team all state HS soccer. Our football team asked me to be kicker but my coaches wouldn’t let me. I sure as hell know the HS football coach and they wouldn’t have moved on to a girl kicker when I said No! They just asked our goalie. They weren’t asking a woman. This is pathetic

The team actually had a bye week after this game. She and the other kickers were much improved after having those two weeks to actually practice and getting back used to kicking, with the exception of the punter. When she has a good game i hope the media floods the airwaves just to make the haters mad.
