Buscemi as Kruschev initially seems like such a weird choice but it totally works.

It's a parody, but it does kinda reflect the high level leadership of the Soviet Union at the time. It was all a little clique. Beria linked up with Stalin way back in Georgia. Molotov in St. Petersburg even before the October Revolution. Khruschev was friends with Stalin's wife in college. Malenkov and Mikoyan supported Stalin during the power struggle after Lenin's death.

These men had all been in Stalin's little circle for 20+ years. It's be like if you and your college buddies were handed control of the largest country in the world.
