i went to seville last easter for semana santa and really enjoyed it, seville is a beautiful city the people are so nice and all the parades were just amazing. I am not perticularly religious but was moved by the processions and the effect they had on everyone there.

As a Sevillian I have to correct something you said. Costaleros aren´t only men. There are also "pasos" carried by women (costaleras) and other "pasos" where mixed women and men carry them, it´s demonstrated that women can do that job as well as men. In other parts of Spain and throughout Andalusia there are costaleras except in Seville, here are still many misogynists. Córdoba and Granada have many pasos carried by women and they are incredible and beautiful
