In a continued search for LZ0 information, I came across the Suburban / Tahoe Diesel Engine Supplement and found a few changes. The LM2 stays for the SUV's but the pickup gets the LZ0. The Oil pump belt interval has been updated and will make everyone happier !!! As an Amazon Affiliate / Influencer, I earn from qualifying purchases. I suspect the service life of the oil drive belt will be the same for previous models and nothing has been changed with the belt. GM most likely has completed extensive testing of the belt and decided to extend the service interval from 150, 000 to 200, 000.

This is great news....thanks for sharing. I was kind of expecting that this news would come about at some point based on one of the early LM2 interviews with the GM engineer. I suspect that we might even see it extended further, if test data supports it. Great news none the less...

I just heard it on another channel that the interval for the LZ0 oil pump belt is going to be 200k miles now. I heard them say it. So you are right on the money.

I listened to an interview with the lead engineer of the 3.0. He said they were taking test data to make changes to the coolant ports to help the engine stay cooler under load. Something about clearing up hot spots.

I read somewhere that on the August 16, 2022, GM will announce the specs on the LZ0. Hopefully this is true and we will finally know if it will be getting more hp and torque.

I am thinking of buying one. I just called the service dept at my local GMC dealership and asked them the cost of changing the belt. I was told it would take about 46 hours as the engine and transmission must come out and the cost would be 46 hours times their shop rate of $160 per hour. A new engine was around $12-13, 000. So sounds like to me it is best to keep it under warranty as there are not enough of these engines yet with 100, 000 miles on them to really know what will happen with the belts. It is beyond me why it was not designed with gears instead of a belt.

If they're some changes in the coolant system doesn't that mean they might be doing it for the off road trucks like the zr2 since it was stated they couldn't put the diesel in the zr2 due to the coolant system being in the way?

Will be interesting to see if GM changes the oil pump part number for the LZ0 from the current part number 55493234 used in the LM2.

This is good news for the belt, still think the 3.0 can have 300 hp, 277 is not enough, although the torque is amazing!

I’m wondering what changed for them to up the mileage on the oil pump belt? I’m wondering if they are seeing the belt can last longer.

What do you suppose changed that made the lz0 get 200k on the belt vs the lm2?

I've done reliability engineering for years and most of the time, id your extending the service life of a wear item like that it's for one of two reasons; measured data from fielded product out performed the model used for the estimate, or a design change changed a model parameter, pushing out the service life.

Any more word on if the LZ0 will have cylinder deactivation or not?

Everybody is worried about the belt but the 10L80 is only good for 100k according to GM, right? I don’t expect to own one that long but the transmission will come out before the belt needs attention. Might as well do it then.

Lol, Extending the interval is just thier way of getting out of warrenty claims... If you have a belt drive pump, change the damn bel early, or find out the hard way how that plays out...

So has GM extended the warranty for the belt and the wiped engine when the belt fails before 200k?

Thats valid for the LM2 2023, or just the LZ0 ? My 2022 became a 2023 yukon with LM2. I cant check my status anymore, it says to contact dealer, i did, they said nothing.. so i dont know
