Another advantage of center cockpit is that the steering station is nearer to the center of the boat so in heavy weather the helmsman is not thrown around so much.

Im not a bit I P fan but this is the niceset that I’ve seen. And I agree with you. When you get up near the mid forties size, I much prefer a mid cockpit.

What does center cockpit have to do with hitting submerged objects? I'm thinking more like having a full skeg rudder and a encapsulated keel be higher on my list in that situation

Well let's see how well your fiberglass bathtub toy holds up to my steel hull Damon yacht support vessel I hit a container by accident that was mostly submerged underwater with that boat it only stuff the paint plus I managed to get a towel line on the container and I told it back to shore and claim salvage rights plus I have a Crane on my vessel that can pick up 20 tons
