As a mother, Mapleshade was abandoned by her mate Appledusk after losing her kits, which was the last straw that pushed her into the abyss.

When I found this song I thought it would be a perfect fit for Mapleshade, so I decided to start drawing it right away, I hope you guys like it!
The cat designs are all by me!

I love the detail of Mapleshade’s leaf coming off when she reaches for her kits. I take it as showing how she lost herself along with the kits.

The song fits perfectly as it’s meant to be sung for kids but it has an added eerie-ness to it. Then, the scenes and the timing of certain events works out really well to tell Mapleshade’s story. I also find it very creepy that towards the end when Mapleshade is singing (I think) to Ravenwing, Frecklewish, and Appledusk like how she was singing to her kits in the beginning. It has a parallel symbolism I think idk, but anyways, Phenomenal work as always!

I love this! It’s so eerie and captures Mapleshade well! I love that at the end she’s singing to the dead bodies of her victims as if they were her kits, amazing detail there because she killed those three cats to avenge her kits’s deaths! Keep up the amazing work!!

Mapleshade is the perfect example of "the situation makes the person" she was a completely happy and kind cat before losing her kits. Yes, she broke the warrior code, but lots of others did that. Kicking her and her tiny kits out of Thunderclan was cruel. But she tried her hardest to save her kits. When Riverclan also turned their backs on her it must have felt horrible. I feel bad, but that's also what makes the warrior cat books so good, is just this, the misunderstandings, the betrayal of someone you trusted, it's all so riveting.

Oh my gosh- this sent actual chills down my spine. The part where she seemingly went insane and started singing to the dead was such a creepy part to add.

OOOoo this so eerie and well done! The way appledusk was ready to throw mapleshade to the wolves to save his own skin had me in tears 😭. Then mapleshade going absolutely MAD, singing to the dead corpses like they were her kits. The expressions are done so well!!

Thank you for making Mapleshade actually take care of her kits while crossing the river! So many maps and animations have her going ahead of them, a subtle way to imply she was uncaring or neglectful to them when they were in danger, but in the book she had them swim ahead of her and was watching to make sure they made it to the stepping stones. Mapleshade did a lot of bad things, I hate that people try to create more bad out of her to make her completely evil instead of morally gray. She did enough to be called a villian without people trying to imply that a grieving mother who killed to set hallucinations of her kits free didn’t actually care about her kits

oh man this is amazing! i absolutely adore unsettling mapleshade content it absolutely works so well for her story! everything works so perfectly and is so well thought out like the background colors getting more and more dull and desaturated until it's just gone and replaced with the void and mapleshade loosing the leaf along with her kits signifying her life being totally altered... perfection
