He doesn't play all the strings. He directs the attack to the target note and consequently hits some strings that are muffled. But not all the strings

Great lesson. I've been trying this for years now on my ibanez guitars and it feels like its impossible to get the muting done right. Do you think playing it on a stratocaster makes a big difference?

After watching this video I finally accepted I will never be able to play this riff in my lifetime. What's even worse, Frusciante does not only play this riff, he sings the vocals at the same time. He's sick, man!

(But I don't care any more. Is he good at EU policy? I fucking doubt it!)
