Dear Schubert Ensemble, if you were wondering how it is possible that you could have more than 44, 000 views of this performance and only 545 "LIKES, " it is because I have gone through about seven long periods of time where I would play this entire performance about four times a day. The piece itself and your performance truly is moving, that compelling. I never tire of the performances. I've listened so many times I know the coughs and rustling of the audience--it has become music for me, as well.
I was probably 25 or so listens in when I realized the violist had broken his foot and was wearing a boot or cast of some sort. There was quite a long period of time when I had a low-key crush on the first violinist. Then I began to have talent-crushes on everyone. Astounding because I haven't ever had crushes or attractions of any sort on classical performers.
Today, I'm listening again after a few months off. And as always, I am a bit heartbroken that the Schubert Ensemble has disbanded. For ardent fans, it's like the Beatles busting up, except maybe worse because your performances of everything you chose were definitive. Thanks to Fauré and to you all for the many hours of listening pleasure. ❤
