I think it's mostly people recording on phones, because they don't know which way to hold the phone... annoying!

Honestly, to each their own. I think vertical cinema is kinda stupid... kind of really stupid, but that just means i wont be watching anything vertically. I just wish youtube could show a different ad every once in a while because all i get is that new “Vertical Cinema short film” blah blah blah. The thing looks like it was shot with a drone whos camera was obscured on either side.

Have you seen the short film "Vertical Cinema" by Damien Chazelle? It's quite good and very imaginative. I could see how certain shots worked well vertically but a lot did not. Could directors use a combination of both vertical and conventional aspect ratios in future? I'm reminded of a less extreme example in Interstellar, which switched between IMAX and 35 mm throughout the movie.

With the limited attention span of gen alpha, you would need to play 4 moves at once, maybe vertical video just predicted the future 10 years ahead.

So stupid video, if you are thinking in horizontal you can't switch to vertical, but if you creative process is thinking on vertical, you can compose and Made beautifull things, think about paint, half of it is Made in vertical, and the new tecnologies do without be throught, vertical cinema after social videos and comercial stuff principal on Facebook. Look for VEFF, the first festival in the new wave (i am speek spanish so, you know...)
