the secret:
do one minute whatever task you want, every day. that will set up a sort of feedback loop and might help you extend that one minute to longer time periods, over the coming days.
you're welcome internet

I expected this talk to last 1 minute, but I got through all 11 minutes. That in itself is a miracle.

this works actually. it's important not to hate on your self for doing the bare minimum, telling your self that within few days you'll be better. I started cooking for my self this way. lost about 15 kilos since then.

There is a phrase in cognitive psychology/therapy that is similar. "Anything worth doing is worth doing badly" it's homework towards anti-perfectionism/anti all or nothing thinking. Also my personal new phrase, One step at a time, one thing at a time small steps count.

This video could also be done in one minute.
Just watch 03:28 to 04:28.
You‘re welcome!
But the idea of this video is really great. Thanks for that Christine Carter!

Starting is always the hardest part.
I always set two goals - a 'stretch' goal and a 'better than nothing' goal. This strategy allows me to be ambitious with my goal while having something to fall back on if I'm really not feeling it.

Honestly, this is exactly the thinking that I had going into this new year and the goals I set for myself. Not necessarily one minute, but ridiculously easy things to do at the start of the year and then build up on them so that by the end of the year I might be where I actually want.

This was so eye-opening for me! I am an over achiever and I struggle a lot because I have an all or nothing mentally. I am going to give the better than nothing habit a shot. Thank you for sharing. ❤

Thank you Christine!
I started the habbit of watching a TED talk a Day. The 1 minute is just play and watch. The final habit is making a small analysis of each TED talk I see. This talk is #425.
Thank you very much!

Summary of the video

1. Doing something is better than nothing even though it is just 1 minute .

2. Being ambitious require more motivation . If the motivation is not sufficient you will slack off from your habit due to " resistance " and fear of failure underachieving

3. It is better to start small and embrace small gain . Build up the habit daily until you reach " auto pilot " i.e. doing something naturally, intuitively without thinking even if you tired/ don't have time etc cetera .

4. Aim to achieve " autopilot " habit, for it is the golden moment that is being the most productive you can get effortlessly .

I do squats while heating my coffee in the microwave, about 1 minute, waking up those glutes.

Exactly what I needed to hear! I've been struggling to muster the motivation to learn French. Gonna tell myself to just do one flashcard a day and do you know what, I already want to do it again haha! Thank you for sharing!
