CPAC: Liz Cheney, Kevin McCarthy Clash Over Trump's Primetime Speaking Slot

At a press conference with House GOP leadership, House Republican Chair, Rep. Liz Cheney, openly disagreed with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy on whether former President Donald Trump should be speaking at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference.

Trump will be making his first post-presidential appearance at a conservative gathering in Florida next weekend on Feb. 28.

While McCarthy said Trump should be speaking, Cheney, when asked by a reporter said that it was up to CPAC but "I've been clear my views about President Trump and the extent to which... following January 6th, I don't, I don't believe that he should be playing a role in the future of the party."

CPAC is being held this year in Orlando, Florida, and will feature a slew of former Trump administration officials and others who represent his wing of the GOP. Trump has been keeping a relatively low profile since he left the White House and retired to Palm Beach, Florida, in January.
