Is a 3-Row Lexus "TZ" Electric SUV Coming?A trademark filing reveals that an all-new three-row EV SUV could be in the cards.Lexus just took the wraps off its refreshed SUV lineup with the brand-new GX and TX, each sporting three rows of seating to move up to sevenpassengers. Both of those models are still powered by traditional internal combustion engines (ICE), but a new trademark filing could suggest an all-electric version of a Lexus three-row SUV is under serious consideration.User "Harrier" of the Lexus RX Owners forum website discovered four new trademark applications in Europe for two apparent Lexus "TZ" models which was picked up by Electrek; there are two applicationsfor something called "TZ450e" and two more for something called "TZ550e," and Lexus doesn't currently offer any global or U.S. models with those model names. We can draw a few conclusions from the names based on the current Lexus nomenclature; the company uses an "S" for sedan models, an "X" for SUVs, and an "M" for its other-market MPVs, and it throws in a "Z" whenever there's a zero emissionsmodel. For example, the electrified RX450e has already been named the RZ450e, swapping the "X" for the "Z," so we can probably expect the same for whatever the new Lexus TZ is supposed to be. If the Lexus TX is sofar the brand's largest three-row ICE SUV, then we can extrapolate that the TZ will likely be a large three-row all-electric version.

We could be waiting a couple of years to find out what the TZ really is, however. Lexus-parent Toyota has already announced three new all-electric vehicle platforms are in development, with the first new models to debut the platforms in 2026. It's likely the Lexus TZ will debut on the largest of the three newplatforms. As for price, it will likely come in a few thousand dollars more than the expected $55,000 starting price of the new Lexus TX three-row SUV.
