Why Did Belarus Still Hold a Huge Victory Day Parade?

A huge parade to mark victory over Nazi Germany in the Second World War took place in Minsk today, despite a significant coronavirus outbreak in Belarus.

The Victory Day celebrations were largely cancelled in neighbouring Russia, but Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has always appeared unfazed by the coronavirus pandemic.

Large sporting and religious events have continued to take place, with the president advising people to take saunas and drink vodka rather than socially distance themselves from other.

Happy Victory Day!!! Also did you see the Victory Day Parade In Belarus. Now that is a country who knows where their loyalty lies. While the bourgeois sympathizers will call them crazy and idiotic, they are the people that will proudly remember the 27 million soviet soldiers who died to free the world from the tyranny and slavery of fascism. While Russia played a suppressed version, as they cowered along with the global fear of the Covid-19 Pandemic, it was the daring charisma and fearlessness of the people of Belarus to perform a remembrance day befitting of the 27 million soviet heroes who should never be forgotten.

They held it because Alexander Lukashenko wanted to one-up Russia.

Lukashenkos government has expelled news reporters, arrested hundreds of protesters against the lack of measures, and in general tried to keep real information sources on the topic locked in the dark. Lukashenko has a grand ego to fill and Lukashenko is not a pragmatist.
