I actually don’t think Tim is completely right on this one.

Even with the Chinese military on high alert, the Chinese government saber rattling, and even the bomb threat at the airport, I don’t believe an invasion of Taiwan will happen in the next four years.


1.) The main reason that China won’t invade is their lack of boats. They literally just don’t have enough transports to get a suitable amount of troops to take the island and they won’t for several years

2.) if they do Invade, they can only do it on the north and south sides of the island due to the terrain. Amphibious landings are extremely difficult and risky so you need to land in the best spot. And if you know where someone is landing then it is a lot easier to repulse them

3.) The whole reason that China talks about Taiwan with such colorful language is to rouse the Chinese people. To distract from failed policies and an authoritarian government at home they must get a common enemy

A much more plausible reason that i had not considered before Tim suggested it is a lone wolf taking action. Everyone should look out for this
